Reconnecting with Nature - Naturist Retreat

Reconnecting with Nature: A Day to Slow Down, Switch Off and Simply Be

(Gallery at the end)

After several weeks of glorious sunshine, our latest naturist retreat greeted us with something rather different. A noticeable drop in temperature and a grey sky meant the day began a little more slowly than we’d imagined.

But that’s the beauty of spending time outdoors, you don’t fight nature, you simply adapt to it.

Before long, the log burner was glowing inside the spacious bell tent, the fire pit crackled into life outside, and what could have felt like a disappointing start instead became warm, welcoming and wonderfully relaxing. People gathered with hot drinks, conversations flowed naturally, and there was no rush to be anywhere else.

As the morning settled, a small group joined us for one of our woodland nature photoshoots. Walking quietly beneath the trees, surrounded by birdsong and the scent of the forest, was a reminder of how restorative nature can be. It’s amazing how quickly the stresses of everyday life begin to fade when you’re away from notifications, deadlines and distractions.
Our group yoga session followed, offering everyone the chance to stretch, breathe and reconnect with both body and mind. In perfect British fashion, the session finished under a gentle drizzle of rain. Rather than spoiling the moment, it simply made everyone laugh. Sometimes those unexpected moments become the most memorable ones, and there was something wonderfully freeing about embracing the weather instead of running from it.

As the afternoon unfolded, the energy shifted. Some of us headed for a friendly game of tennis, others discovered hidden talents (or at least plenty of enthusiasm!) with archery, and an impromptu opportunity to try rifle shooting proved to be an unexpected bonus that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Between activities, people wandered the woodland paths, relaxed around the fire pit, or simply enjoyed conversations inside the bell tent. There was no pressure to fill every minute. In fact, some of the best moments came from doing very little at all.

That, for us, is what these retreat days are really about.

They’re not about packing in as many activities as possible. The yoga, woodland walks and sports are all enjoyable, but they’re simply ways of encouraging us to reconnect, with nature, with ourselves and with one another.

In a world that constantly demands our attention, there’s something incredibly powerful about spending a day outdoors with no expectations. Feeling the ground beneath your feet, breathing fresh air, listening to the wind in the trees and sharing genuine conversation around a fire has a remarkable way of resetting the mind.

Everyone left with muddy feet, smiling faces and that unmistakable feeling of having slowed down for a while. It wasn’t because the weather was perfect, it wasn’t, but because we embraced whatever the day brought.

Sometimes the best therapy isn’t found indoors.

Sometimes it’s found beneath the trees, around a fire, and in the company of good people who remind you just how good it feels to simply be.

Now enjoy our gallery of the day's activities.

A fantastic day spent outside in nature with a whole group of new friends. Sometimes it's just nice to be outdoors and switch off. Switch all your devices off and reconnect with yourself, friends and partners.
So who's joining us next time?

  1. It really was an amazing day in a wonderful location. It might have started a bit overcast but that didn't dampen our spirit and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The photoshoot was brilliant and inventive resulting in some great photos to remember the day and the naked yoga finishing in a little light rain just made us realise how much a part of nature we all are. Thank you for a wonderfully enjoyable and memorable day in nature just being ourselves.
